Americans, What is the Origin of your "Thanksgiving"?

Where did it come from? Did it come from England, or was it invented in America, & if so, Who invented it? & What did the native indians have to do with it?

    in a nutshell, the pilgrims would give thanks to god for a good harvest after fasting. this was a tradition brought in from england.

    It's true that Lincoln put it up as a national holiday for the nations morale, but it had little to nothing to do with Native Americans. The only reason that the old paintings had them in there was a type of propaganda to show that the natives could be tamed, this occurred before and during the civil war.

    thanksgiving was a native american holiday. that was introduced to the pilgrims. it was an official truce before the pilgrims turned around and slaughtered the natives.

    Well thanks giving originated back in the OT, the biblical times. People would gave thanks to GD by offering meats to the Lord. In the NT Thanks giving should be every time we eat meats, because it is to show GD our thanks. But, after that the tradition is told to have started back when Christopher Columbus invaded America and the natives wanted peace so thanks giving is the symbol of that...
