Why does the U.S. still consider Cuba as an enemy?
The cold war ended long ago. Is there any reason for the U.S. to hate Cuba now?

That's an excellent question. After all, China is communist and we trade with them like crazy. Cuba has great cigars and used to be a very popular American vacation spot. Makes sense that we should trade with them and make friends of them, to avoid a repeat of what was going on when JFK was president. So -- shrug?

They are still considered an enemy because there is a large Cuban refugee population in Florida, a swing state, that would be upset with whichever party tried to normalize relations with Cuba.
The other thing is that Cuba is quite content with the way things are. They aren't being hurt by the US sanctions, and are happy to be able to tell the US to piss off. I think as long as Cuba is unwilling to change anything, even on a superficial level, the US won't be able to afford to normalize things.
Heck, they couldn't even accept Fidel Castro's sympathies over 9/11, and Castro used to live in NYC.

Had Cuba abandoned its Marxist-Leninist totalitarian schemes and plans to export revolution abroad? Does anyone with half a brain really believe Hugo Chavez in Venezuela was democratically elected? Have they stopped consorting with like-minded regimes in Iran and North Korea? And are the poor slobs trapped on that miserable island free in any sense of the word? I don't think so.

The United States has sanctions and economic embargoes on many global, because these countries tell them, no. They don't want their American exceptionalism, jingoism, phony religion, capitalism and Zionist propaganda to destroy their society morals, which the United States calls diplomacy.
To destroy there unique culture, customs, traditions, values and society by white anteing and eating away there foundations and government. By Americanization and turning all there citizens into Uncle Sam's. While robbing there monetary economy and all of their natural resources. Which the United States does to many foreign country's.
Just look at Uganda, to see what bringing American diplomacy did to that country and it's citizens.

Any politician who attempts to end the embargo and reestablish relations will be immediately assailed by the other political party.
This is certain. Im not saying its good; its just reality.
