Would Europe and the USA benefit from a common currency ? Would China quake at such a prospect ?

Would the USA and Europe benefit from a common currency ?

Would such a currency make China a lesser economic power ?

    Short Answer no.

    Example. Europe already experimented with a common currency, the Euro. When some of the countries within started having trouble, it affected everybody in that system, ahem Greece. By putting us all on the same currency, it would drastically have an adverse affect on the USA.

    If Europe and the US agreed to have them same economic structure, political structure, etc then it could prove beneficial, but more or less it would still be negative for the US. Basically, it'll strengthen the stronger party, so long as there was resources for the stronger to take advantage of. Europe imports too much, and most of the resources worth taking are in Africa, South America, Asia, the Middle East, and international waters. That would be looked at as colonization, and truthfully it would be. Similar to business acquisition scenario.
