Linux vs. Windows in schools?

Curious, mostly...how popular has Linux gotten in schools, given the freedom from viruses, low hardware requirements, ease of use, cost savings, etc.? Does anyone have any good experiences?

I honestly am not fully sure. but I am aware (hopefully) that I brought up to the school board at my school and shown them everything they could use it for. the only reason they are not doing so (which by the way I think is ill-legit) is funding and **Tech support** (which I do understand according to school IT shops) but they were very shocked at the ability and cost of such the glorious Linux OS and said personally "seems as if it would be well worth the time..." and " Very Very easy to use! how much would it cost to operate?" each with the simple answer you are certain to be aware of. I hope I answered your question. I can't stay on topic when Linux is involved. have a good day Jim.
