Some unfortunately do. The general theme is that it's God's will that those that follow Jesus should be prosperous. Thing is, it's founded on a few misunderstood scriptures. One of them is 3John2, which clearly has John wishing (not demanding, decreeing, or whatever term is currently popular) that his friend Gaius would have as abundant physical blessings as he does spiritual blessings. That's all it is, a wish from one friend to another, and it has been blown out of proportion and not understood in the context in which it was written.

Even interior the Pentecostalist flow such coaching is seen as heretical. In some societies it appeals to the upwardly cellular working and decrease center classification communities. it may seem to artwork too because of the fact the self-discipline those churches tutor which include the social networks they carry are applicable for primitive Capitalism. traditionally this is precisely the courting Max Weber defined between Capitalism and the Protestant Ethic. The association with the classes of the e book of Malachi is a perversion of the Prophet's message which became that the human beings of Israel weren't giving God his due. Jesus instructed his followers to not save up their treasure on the earth yet seek for heavenly treasures. One actuality of Prosperity Theology is that it makes its preachers rich.

it is not the true gospel, because Jesus lived a life of poverty. He was born in a stable, and never became rich following His Father's will. The prosperity taught by Christ was in the beatitudes, and practiced by Christ in His life such as patience, joy, fortitude, wisdom, and love. This is the prosperity of following Christ. Not giving in order to get something back, that is contractual charity and not the gospel.
