What parts do I need to make my own computer?
I am wanting to build my own computer from scratch, I was wondering what parts would be the best parts for a beginner.
I know I will need;
Case/Tower
Power Supply
Mother board
hard Drives
Ram(s)
Graphic card
I am just not sure what ones to buy and use.
The type of computer I am looking to build will have to be great for a lot of university studies and work, but also have the capability to amuse the owner when studying gets boring and they want to play their online games.
If you know anything that would work and or will be compatible please feel free to answer with the part(s) and their functions and if you happen to know the price that will be even better.
Please note that I will not be able to buy the most expensive parts so lets keep the price range to just above minimum .
Thanks =)
Thanks for your time Qwerty.
Just wondering here, What would you do? What parts and components would you want in a computer. I'm asking on your experience. Feel free to email me instead of just answering.
As for budget wise, I would like to spend under $1500 if possible. I just want a beginner based build. Nothing far out and spending like 5gs for a computer. I want to get my hands in there and build it, and have a learning processes as a go. Just to say Hey, I built a pretty d amn good computer
My intentions are to use the computer for personal use, but also after i build it, take it maybe to the next step and upgrade it further, or even build a second one. Depending on the situation.

Impossible straight forward answer here :( . To start with the top on why.
Motherboards come in different sizes and are made for different cpu's.
Cpu's come in 2 brands, Intel and AMD. Each cpu needs to match the support of the motherboard.
(For example a i7 1366 socket cpu won't fit in a motherboard that only supports a i7 2012 socket.)
(A AMD CPU won't fit in a Intel designed motherboard built for intel cpu's.)
For powersupply it all depends on what your running here as well. If your running a low end computer then a 400mhz cpu is great. Now if your running a high end i7 cpu, with a high end graphics card etc then your going to need a lot more power than 400 or the system won't even start.
For RAM you need to know how much you want and what the board supports. Some boards support only DDR2 ram where others only support DDR3. Also what speed does the motherboard support. Some only support 800mhz where some supports a LOT higher than this.
Now on to graphics cards, they are pretty straight forward, not to pricey some where in the 100 dollar range new should ensure great game play for a long while.
Hard drive wise this comes in to play with the motherboard again. Motherboards today have 6gb sata ports and when combined with a 6gb transfer hard drive your able to take advantage of it. So you need to know does the motherboard have a 6gb sata port or not cause if not then theres no need to worry about it getting a 6gb transfer hard drive.
Another thing to think about hard drive wise is speed, 5200RPM hard drives are built for more external hard drive enclosures where 7200RPM drives are build for desktops. The difference is how much abuse and run time constant they can handle. 7200RPM is going to be your best choice all the way around and make sure you choose one with atleast a 3 year warranty.
Then you have brands lol, brands make a huge difference as far as lasting.
There really is a lot of work that has to be done on building a system from the ground up to make sure its all right.

if you're on a budget, just buy something 2nd hand refurbished from a reputable company.
Contrary to popular mythology, building it yourself is no guarantee of saving money. Very often when you put together your shopping list of parts and add it all together, it works out to cost more than a better machine already built.

you like a million. a Case {type element} 2. a PSU if your case did no longer incorporate one 3. you ought to decide on your CPU 4. mom Board which would be compatable with your cpu 5.you like ram it is compatable with your motherboard. 7.you like eithir and IDE or Sata annoying force reckoning on your motherboard 6.you like a cpu warmth sink+fan in case you acquire an o.e.m cpu (no fan) 7. A video card if your motherboard isnt intergraded those are your necessities. What i advise is you examine up on ESD....in case you dont decide to be certain than take my suggestion and purchase an ESD strap and placed on it on your wrist on an analogous time as the strap is linked on your laptop case. in no way touch components on an analogous time as your no longer grounded via fact which you will discharge static and it ought to break the area. once you handel thermal paste, be carefull to no longer get any on your hands...in case you do wash it and be certain you leave no residue at the back of. Thermal paste or artic silver is extremely poisonous via fact of severe components of mercury. if your on the cheap i might bypass AMD yet once you obtain funds i say Intel via fact their cpu's are only high quality. As motherboards bypass....asus, intel, msi...all make good boards. it is undemanding to construct a comp in case you comprehend what your doing... i advise asking somebody who geared up computers earlier to instruct you the way. Thats how i found, my dads chum aaron confirmed me in under an afternoon. only authentic confusing area i had replaced into attempting to place in unbuntu on my hdd via fact on the time it does no longer comprehend sata hdds. nevertheless construction a working laptop or laptop is lots greater suited than paying for one at objective.
