Does anyone else really like Norah Jones' voice?

Her first album is one of my favourites to just chill out to when I feel stressed

anyone else a fan?

Ignore Richard- Though he is capable of a good answer, he sometimes shows his prejudice and ignorance. Norah Jones is the real thing- a truly talented, truly original jazz singer/composer/musician! I have worked in many areas of the jazz-music business for over 50 years. I was first attracted to her by the sound of her voice- she is so totally natural and unaffected. And then I listened to the music... and then the lyrics. This girl has got it going on.

It was only much later when I discovered her family background and saw how physically beautiful she is. One of the aspects I most like about her is that she does not employ her looks (like, say Beyonce and myriad others) to sell records. Nor does she trade on her family. She is what she is and she does what she does. If she wants to do jazz, she does. If she wants to lean more to pop, she does it. Who cares. I love the sound of her voice and her creativity.

Also, Norah Jones is a musician who believes that you can say more by doing less-- the "less is more" approach which is also know as KISS (keep it simple stupid.) She should teach this method. It goes against the legions of Whitney Houston wanna-bes, but it is very musical and listenable. She is usually ultra "laid-back", but she can be more aggressive when she wants. I usually prefer more up-tempo music and I cannot perform her songs as slowly as she does, but that's the way she feels it and the contrast is ultimately revealing.

It is certainly possible for someone not to like her voice. But "bland and unexciting" could only be used by someone who hasn't heard that much of her. I would listen to her ahead of just about any female vocalist performing today.

NO! She's bland & UNexciting. Nice girl, but she's pidgeonholed herself.
