  • how do I re-boot in safe mode in Windows 8?

I cannot find method to do so, & the black screen will not appear, even after I unplug the power. I need to do this so the rKill I installed will run. At least that's what I was lead to believe.

  • Topic: proper eco-friendly way to dispose of VHS tapes.?

I have many & I'd like to dispose of them w/out spending a lot of time preparing them (ie: physically pulling out the tape). I would also like to be able to do this freely! Any firm suggestions before I dumpsterize them? -Fuzzy

  • I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota PU w/ 188K mi 3.9 V-6 auto. Should I use O/D when pulling a heavy load?

I've received conflicting info on this. My understanding of O/D is to save fuel on the highway, like a 4th gear. I recently hauled a camper trailer over 500 miles in O/D w/ a lot of downshifting occurring. The trip ended OK but I'm still confused. Please help as I love my truck- it has served me well!

  • How does a substitute teacher control a class? Hints/suggestions?

I just began sub teaching last week & so far the experience has been less than positive. I had a seminar in on subbbing in Oct by a very astute retired teacher, but whatever he tried to impart to me just hasn't clicked. I've had 2 full days- 1 HS, 1-K, & 8th grade 1/2 day today, which I had to call for help! Got a 1/2 day tomorrow- elementary. I've seen a couple of other subs/parapros in action & I know I need some pointers in crowd control. I'm retired & would like to earn a little extra $$, but I get the feeling there may be a better way to supplement my income. I do have a BA from MSU.

Aside from that, I feel my expectations are getting in the way. I'm used to decent order. Maybe I need to go back to stocking shelves at Krogers!

  • 2001 dodge dakota engine light stays on?

2WD/A/C/auto no other extras. 182K+ miles. Runs like a champ. Engine light would come on maybe twice a year, but far more frequently of late, to the point now that I just had it read (Misfire on #3 cylinder) & the light came back on w/ the next start. The #3 misfire ALWAYS reads when tested. NO blinking yet. My fear is that if the light stays on it won't be alerting me of any other problems, & I don't want to cover up the light w/ tape. The latest test (yesterday) was done by a certified mechanic. There is NO issue in performance.

  • How do I choose a good trailer tire?

We have 2 trailers- a popup & a covered hauling. They both need spares. The popup takes a 4.80-8, but the one I found, made in China, warns not to exceed 55 MPH. It's a 2-ply tubeless which runs for $30-35 at Harbor Freight.

The hauling trailer calls for a 4.80-12, & I found online at Tractor Supply Co for $75-80.

Is it common for them not to be run over 55 MPH? Or is that b/c it's made in China?

Any positive suggestions of where to find them is appreciated. Thanks, -Fuzzy

  • Can a cold air return be used for ductwork?

We have a 15" x 19" air space coming up from the basement, between the furnace & chimney, & we'd like to use this space to add ducts going up the 2nd floor, for heat & a/c. The opening to this space is located near the ceiling of the 1st floor, & measures 16"x20". Our furnace is a 60,000 BTU & we'd replace it w/ an 80,000. We have a total of almost 4,000 square ft between the two levels (88x45 total), w/ 8 ft ceilings. There are other cold air returns through out the house. One company says "Yes" we can use it, another says "No", & wants to increase ALL of our ductwork. The additional ducts we'd have installed in that space would be insulated, assuming there's enough room. The chimney stays & will be the chase for the H20 heater. It has been suggested to me that we ask the installers to adjust the wiring & gas pressure to accomodate the increase in the furnace. We won't have much use of the heat & a/c til the upstairs is fully remodeled. Any suggestions or questions I need to know is appreciated. Thanks, -Fuzzy
