Rock and Pop- Name instances where the new band members happen to be better than the original members?

What bands have fired members and replaced them with more talented people? All in your opinion of course, just wondering what you all come up with.

BQ- Best part of your weekend so far?

BQ2- What song(s) have any major significance for you?

Thanks everyone!

Rush. Their original drummer, John Rutsey, pales in comparison to Neil Peart. And not many people seem to know this, but Geddy Lee wasn't their original singer and bassist, a bloke named Jeff Jones was.

Their current line-up, the one they've had for nigh on 39 years, is far superior to the original.

BQ: Again, talking to you :)

BQ2: I've already shown you many, but here's another one:

"I Ate Your Soul (remix)" by Grieves ft. P Smoov

John Frusciante joining the Red Hot Chili Peppers after Hillel Slovak died

Dave Grohl replacing Chad Channing in Nirvana

Bruce Dickinson replacing Paul Di'Anno in Iron Maiden

Mani replacing Pete Garner in the Stone Roses

I would kinda also add when David Gilmour replaced Syd Barrett. I like David more as a guitarist but I like Syd more as a songwriter

BQ: Meh, My weekend hasn't really been that great

BQ2: Williams Last Words - Manic Street Preachers

    Ringo Starr - The Beatles

    Chapstique - Family Force 5

    Christian McAlhaney - Anberlin

Joe Rickard - Red - The old drummer quit after a really bad car accident

BQ: Nothing yet:/ I get to see my favorite band again next weekend though.

Oh wait. I found out that Demon Hunter is one of the bands the military uses to torture secrets out of people. Lol.

BQ2: Radiator was the song that made me fall in love with Family Force 5

Minnie the Moocher was one of the best songs I played when I was in jazz band years ago. It reminds me of my favorite movie and being with my BFF.

And Let it Be by The Beatles is still my favorite song ever. It always makes me feel better.

Can's first vocalist Malcolm Mooney sounded cracked and... a bit ill actually. He apparantly left the band because of his mental health. He's been having a fruitful career as a visual artist since then. Check out his website:

After Mooney left, Damo Suzuki came shuffling in and brought with himself a whole new world of craziness to the band. He's the one who sings all that weird gibberish in Tago Mago.

    BA: no weekend here.

BA2: I think "Prayers for Rain" by The Cure has gradually become the theme song of my world.

Most people think that John Frusciante is better then Hillel Slovak of the Red Hot Chili Peppers; i'm not sure myself, i've not heard enough of Hillel to judge.

Plus; many people believe that on the times when Paul Mccartney replaced Ringo on drums in The Beatles on some songs, he performed better.

Oh and David Gilmore replacing Syd Barrett on lead guitar in Pink Floyd, he was better.

Bruce Dickinson replacing Paul Di'Anno in Iron Maiden

Cannibal Corpse is a prime example of this. Chris Barnes was *okay*, but George Fisher is much better overall. Also, while I liked Jack Owen as lead guitar, Pat O'Brien (who once played alongside Jack) is better.

BQ: Buying a 1981 Pontiac Trans Am.

Hello.Going back many years.I think Fleetwood Mac were far better when Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham came on board. Both extremely talented.

BQ)Weekend has been rubbish in all honesty.

BQ2)I'm still listening to some Rush songs. This weekend 'Caress of Steel ' album.I'm very biased. It's a bit downbeat which suits.
