Why would I knowingly buy a safety hazard for my baby?

If you don't have enough money to buy a reliable soft structured carrier I suggest you get a good mei tai instead. A bit less ergonomic, but still pretty comfortable, safe, easier to tie than a wrap, and keeps the baby in the recommended 'frog' position. I got an Amazonas mei tai as a backup for my SSC, it's very affordable.

I don't know why anyone would buy a fake. Many fakes have injured the people buying the product. You just do not know the quality, plus you contribute to theft of intellectual property.

People on eBay buy fakes all the time. there is one selling for $85 from China. Only a fool would spend that much money for a product that is fake. A new one from the company site is $30 more, and you know it is safe and warranted. I've seen authorized retailers sell these for as low as $90 for a closeout fabric.

  • No.

No warranty, no buyer protection, no reliable testing statistics. Only an idiot would intentionally buy one.

If you can't afford a genuine ergo, buy one of the cheaper reputable brands like Boba.
