Get the avast free antivirus . Its free always and doesnt ask for purchase .It asks for activation renewal every 6 months or so. Just do it , its free . Its quite good for home use and never caused me problems over past 6 years .
Norton is the worst - for a paid product , it rarely detects viruses , detects false positives and slows down your system to a crawl .
if its a home system then any free antivirus like AVG , avast etc is fine dont waste your money on paid ones the free ones offer enough protection

Norton 360 gold edition is good, McAfee is good also. The longest time you can get it free is for 30 days, then you will have to purchase it.
On Norton, you can scan your computer for viruses and then it removes them, and the ones that are unremovable are guarded away from your computer. It also protects malware, identity theft and other viruses from internet and downloads.

Get AVAST, ITS SO MUCH BETTER THEN BOTH OF THOSE. PLUS ITS FREE
I also suggest Zone-alarm for your firewall.
i would also suggest using a proxy or VPN for anonymous web browsing
