How to talk to someone I like?
I don't want to tell her right off the bat that I like her or that I think she's pretty. Ive tried that before, it never works. All I want is to start conversation and go from there. If things go well, I'd like to take her to prom, which is soon, so I don't have much time. Thanks.

Talk to here as if u don't like her and is just a friend it will be easier and it will seem like u have confidence

Try something else. Try being there when she needs you and don't be annoying towards her. Girls don't like that. If you see that she doesn't like you as much as you like her, then there's no point fighting it and trying to make it better when it can't get better than that.
You can only try to find out what she likes, and based on that , impress her in some way.
But other than that , I advise you to find someone else. You know as they say, there's plenty of fish in the sea. :D

You should buy her flowers and say that you think she's pretty. Then ask her to prom, before another guy does.
Seriously, if a guy did that for me, I would be super flattered and happy. :)
