I heard hes out on bail. Does that mean he was innocent because they couldn't really prove anything?

No, he is out on bail awaiting trial. The South African system is similar to England's and the US system of justice - .note I said similar, not the same.
They have had a bail hearing which has determined that there is enough evidence to hold him over for trial, but he will be held under house arrest rather than held in a jail for the duration of the trial.
If he is found guilty he will go to jail. If he is found not guilty he will go free. It will likely be months or maybe years before this is over. I have no idea how efficient the South African courts are.

Of course he's guilty. Even if he truly thought burglars were hiding in his toilet, to shoot at them through a closed door when they could have been of no possible threat is criminal. To claim that he is yelling suddenly at his girlfriend to call the police when she is 10 feet in front and seemingly deaf and mute is ridiculous. To claim he is concerned about her safety and he doesn't even notice where she is can be nothing else than a shameless lie. And every time he is beyond called to account for these lies, he retreats to the usual "I don't know." And all along he retches and breaks down as the slain woman's mother sits stoic and dignified.

He hasn't had a trial yet.

You really don;t understand what bail is.
Bail has nothing to do with guilt/"innocence". All it means is that you are allowed to await trial outside of jail.
He has not stood trial yet, and will not stand trial until June, and todays decision to grant bail is in no way indicative of whether or not he is guilty. Also, at trial, "innocent" is not a verdict. He will be found either guilty or not-guilty, and it will come down to his state of mind. It is an undisputed fact that he killed her, the issue is whether or not he murdered her or mistook her for a burglar, which is his story.

No, they don't let innocent people out on bail. His is out on bail until his trial.
Being found "not guilty" in court doesn't mean that you are innocent. It only means that there wasn't enough evidence to convict you.
Take care

Yes he is out on bail.
"Does that mean he was innocent because they couldn't really prove anything?" No. It simply means he will not be held in jail until there is a trial.

No, being out on bail has nothing to do with it. that just means he doesn't have to be in a cell until the time of his trial.
