Jehovah's Witness Women: Are you allowed to sell gold jewelry and pearls?
Since you follow Biblical rules and are not permitted to wear gold and pearls, are you allowed to sell it to others? If you do sell gold and pearls is this not going against Biblical principles? For example, since you are not allowed to have blood transfusions, I would think you are not allowed to sell blood. By the way, this is just an example so please stick with the topic at hand and not harp on the example. Thanks.
1Ti 2:8-10 NASB
Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension. Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.
1Pe 3:1-5 NASB
In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior. Your adornment must not be merely external–braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands.
If allowed to sell gold and pearls, wouldn't you be encouraging vanity?
Reread Timothy-" ....I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, NOT WITH braided hair and gold or pearls......"
If you are promoting something that is unacceptable to Jehovah then you are displeasing Him and giving a bad witness. This is why JWs cannot work at casinos even if they don't gamble. Selling gold and pearls for women to wear is promoting a practice that is against the Bible. We can make the assumption that the restriction applies to other forms of ornate jewelry as well.

You can do some research on the customs of the 1st Century.
It was common among the women of the Roman empire to go to lavish extremes in doing themselves up. While in our era, it is often the "ladies of the night" that overdress to show their "business", in the Roman empire, the whores were registered and could only wear a simple shift, without makeup or jewelry.
So, the married and single women NOT in "the profession", would show their status by their fancy dress. Paul and Peter gave instructions not to do what was common, since it is not the outer clothing and hairstyles that define their good standing with God, but their internal spirit. As Peter says the "imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit".
So, my dear sisters can dress in a nice modest manner, with the jewelry that brighten them. Their God sees their true worth is on the inside.

Yes, as long as they are not stolen and we have the right to sell it, there is no problem at all with selling pearls, gold or any other jewellry.
A Christian merchant or salesperson is not responsible for what people do with their own property as long as what they are selling is not contrary to bible principles. After all would a Christian grocer be responsible for all his overweight clients because he or she sells food? That's being a little ridiculous don't you agree?
As a Christian woman I take objection to your interpretation of Paul's instructions, not everything people say should be taken to be speaking in absolutes. I suppose you would have us walk about NAKED because Peter said
1Pe 3:1-5 NASB : Your adornment must NOT be merely external–braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or ==>> PUTTING ON DRESSES < ===
Since "putting on dresses" is on the same list as hair braiding and gold, are you suggesting Christian women should also not wear (or sell) dresses?
Both Paul and Peter were clearly simply discouraging the elaborate hairstyles and showy display of wealth common at the time. Jewellry, gold, pearls or DRESSES in themselves violate no bible principle and selling none of the above is objectionable.

it is your first actual question ever on Y/A...and what an 'exciting' question! of direction that's allowed...at first, Jehovah's Witnesses stick to what the scriptures say. no longer following guy-made teachings. And a Jehovah's Witness' way of existence is predicated on the holy scriptures and Bible-knowledgeable experience of right and incorrect. What does being allowed tocontinual an vehicle could do with something scriptural? besides, in the adventure that your question is rather a serious one, that's kind of unhappy that somebody mentioned something that could desire to made you ask your self. confident, wecontinual automobiles....and that i've got additionally pushed, automobiles, tractors, compactors and so on on structures web pages too. :-)

What that teaching means is that we should dress with modesty. The Bible speaks of dressing well of adornment. Rather than forbidding certain ornamentation what the Bible encourages us to do as Christians is to have good Christian qualities and good works primarily. In other words, that what counts is what we are inside and not how we look outside.
1 Timothy 2:9 & 10: “I desire the women to adorn themselves in well-arranged dress, with modesty and soundness of mind, not with styles of hair braiding and gold or pearls or very expensive garb, but in the way that befits women professing to reverence God, namely, through good works.” Bible
If you read about the women Israelites in the Old Testament, they wore jewelry. One example was Rebeka who was in fact very spiritual and “God’s servant” in the Old Testament, wore jewelry.
The Bible also warns us about “judging one another.”

"I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works"
This is making the point that its the INNER person that matters, their works toward God, not the outer appearance. Jesus said that hypocritical persons who sought to draw attention to their piety by the showy displays of ones means received their “reward in full”—from men, but not from God. The pious-appearing Pharisees made long prayers, boasted of their superior morality, yet were condemned by God for their hypocritical course
"Your adornment must not be MERELY external–braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart,"
Again, the same point. The Bible doesn't condemn dressing up, just makes the point that its not the bling that matters to God, its the inner person.
So yeah, go sell gold and pearls.
