Should I report my school bus driver?
While on my bus this afternoon another student became violently ill and vomited on his belongings(he's in 7th grade). Other kids and I called to our bus driver to ask if the student could be dropped off first(his bus stop is last of 7) so he could get home and get treated. My bus driver shook his head and flat out said no so we argued he was very sick and he just kept saying no. I feel this was not fair. As a bus driver of over 40 children he should make sure all of us are safe. In my opinion and several other older students, we decided to report him once school came back on on Monday. I'm not too sure of what his regulations as a school bus driver are but would it be appropriate to report him to administration for putting the welfare of a child in jeopardy?
I would really appreciate anyone's input. Thanks for the help. :)

Definitely report it.
While there are people on the bus, they are the drivers responsibility. If he needed to get off the bus, he should have been allowed.

So what, he threw up, certainly wouldn't call that violently ill. The only action the bus driver could have taken would have been to stop the bus and call 911, not deviate from the scheduled stops. If he had a seizure or became unconscious then he would have pulled over and called 911. If you report him you'll be told that he did nothing wrong. Forty kids on a bus and you want the bus driver to rush a kid, that vomited, home? That's irresponsible. It's not a taxi service, ambulance, or a car service, it's a school bus.

You need to understand that the bus driver is responsible for the safety of those kids while in their custody and control on that bus. The driver is liable if anything happens to them on the bus. Even though the boy was sick the driver is not authorized to allow the kid out at any stop other than the one that is designated to be his. To do otherwise can create a real problem for the driver if something happens to the kid between the unauthorized drop off and his home. Letting him off at any stop other than his can be considered putting him in jeopardy.

Bus drivers aren't allowed to deviate from their assigned stops for any reason he could be fired for jumping stops. The school isn't going to care if the bus driver followed protocol there isn't a whole lot of difference between being sick on the bus or at his house the kid is going to be sick regardless. It would be a totally different situation if the child needed his inhaler or insulin but an upset stomach is hardly a life threatening emergency. By all means feel free to report you issue but don't be surprised if nothing happens.

If the kid was really that sick, then the bus needed to be brought back to the school so that the kids parents could transport him home/get him medical attention, and so that the bus itself could be decontaminated. However, many drivers don't like to skip whole routes.
