From my understanding there are less holidays, the school days are longer but also if you miss a day you have to make it up.

Here in the uk we don't, I skipped lessons all the time and nothing was done about it.

The reason why East Asians such as those in Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong and others do well in Maths, is that culturally parents of these communities demand kids learn more and get very high marks in exams. Even when there is summer holidays, parents of East Asian communities tend to test their kids with exams relating to what they learn in school. Also teachers of schools in those places get higher wages and kids are better behave in classes.

You must mean Asians that are Chinese or Japanese.

It is not the case in Britain where we refer to Asians as those from SE Asia....Pakistani children are not out performing anyone. In fact they are seen as a priority group and are given additional funding to try to iron out the deficits.

    All learning takes hard work.

School isn't supposed to be ' fun ',all the time.

    Then again,there are Asians,and ASIANS.

    And immigrant sweepings.

They probably don't have more than half the class not speaking their language and thus holding them back!

You say "our children," but are they really ours or a mixture of ours and a significant number from low IQ third world countries?
