which withstands cold weather better? vinyl or brick?

I don't know the answer, but here is what i'm thinking in terms of getting an answer.

First, find out which one is a better insulator - there may be that sort of data on line.

Also, find out which substance stands up to heat/thaw cycles better - and whether sunlight degrades one more than the other..Vinyl may degrade faster, but you may be able to protect with paint.
