WHY is Narcissism termed; a malignant love of self??? Are narcissists considered; sociopaths?

If so, what precisely is a "SOCIOPATH/PSYCHOPATH?

Thank you.

Update:

YES - IN FULL AGREEMENT WITH YOU.

It was the line of difference which you so well define, that i was searching for!

thank you!

Update 2:

The 'EXCUSE" deternines the difference - does it no?!!!

again, thank you!!! IT IS THE" EXCUSE" I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR! Though would have never thought to term it, the way you have!

If you read the description of the pathological narcissist, it sounds very much like that of the sociopath. They are both ruthless and self-centered. The difference, I think,is that whereas the narcissist thinks of himself as a good person, the sociopath is not interested in that, and is content to do things he knows is wrong. When a narcissist does wrong, he has an excuse for it. There are people like this on Wall Street who dream of being great philanthropists some day, while they'e stealing money right and left.

No but Narcissism is a symptom of sociopathy, so Sociopaths are Narcissists but not all Narcissists are Sociopaths.
