Why do gays get special treatment?

How come when voicing your opinion about anything else is an opinion but when you talk about gays that. Tosses the line and you have the gay parade on your a**? If I say I don't agree with the lifestyle then everyone is like "you homophobic bit*h" etc... I don't get it.

    We don't.

The reason you get called that is because you are uneducated about it. Saying "I don't agree with their lifestyle" makes you sound stupid.

This is because being gay is not a lifestyle. Saying you do not agree with gays is a double standard as they do the same as heterosexuals.

I'm gay and I don't like it when I get my sexuality asked for a "diversity survey" in things like job applications. Sometimes I refuse to answer because I want to get the job on merit, not to fill their quota! I'm not ashamed of being gay, neither am I proud, it's not a choice, it's just part of who I am!

I think we have problems both ways really, there's the whole gay marriage thing and civil partnerships for straight couples thing, sexuality should be irrelevant...

...but at the same time there is positive discrimination and I personally find it patronising! Can't we just get to a point where we see people as people and don't feel a need to talk them up or down because they're different. We're not all the same, never have been and never will be, get over it! No more positive discrimination please, it's doing more harm than good, people are people!

Gays don't really get special treatment.

People understand, or at least most people do, that your sexual orientation is not a choice. This in turn leads to a negative reaction when people talk about 'not agreeing' with the lifestyle, as it isn't something people decide to do, they are born to be attracted to people of the same sex.

Hence the negative reaction. When you say you don't agree with the lifestyle you are in turn promoting that people live a lie. That people cut themselves off from a very basic desire, and a chance of real happiness.

Quite frankly I don't understand peoples objections to homosexuality.

Well really if you didn't say anything wrong you wouldn't be homophobic. You must of said something offensive or said it in an offensive way. And we don't get special treatment! We get enough **** from people every day and we are starting to have enough and some straight people stick up with us, if THAT is what you mean them no, no that is no special treatment it's just people aren't used to us to people sticking up for gay people or us sticking up for ourselves now. That's all. Not much to get.

staggering element Toff. i became thinking purely approximately further Darren J. in spite of the reality that i think of this is basically incorrect to disclaim the GLBT community a top to marriage, mainstream heterosexual society perspectives us purely as what you defined. and due to that, we are considered as inferior and quite deviant. via the sheer volume of gay jokes, we is purely no longer taken heavily. Darren J, i think of you provided some large techniques on how we are able to probably turn this around.

It's called Hetrophobia. If straights can be Homophobes than Gays and lesbians can be Hetrophobes.Any Gay that says it's not so is Showing their Hetrophobia. They're saying Gays are incapable of Prejudice and thus Superior to Straights.Proving their own Hetrophobia.Oh,I'm a Bi Male who's experieced BOTH sides of the Issue.

Well people don't agree with their lifestyle have a tenancy to hit them upside the head with a 2 by 4, why wouldn't their guard be up? I don't get why people have a problem with it, I mean the thought of the sex makes my skin crawl, but that doesn't make me hate them, they aren't hurting anyone or negatively affecting anything, why shouldn't they be allowed rights?

There really isn't any real logic behind that opinion. It's based on falsehoods and, wherever I've encountered it, homophobia. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though. so whatever. I've never seen it successfully argued. and referring to it as a lifestyle is a passive way of cutting out the fact that no one chooses to be gay. and people who refer to it as such generally don't understand that or really much at all about being gay.

I know, right? Same thing happens when I say I don't agree with black people's lifestyle.
