circuit question 2 please help thanks :)?
A 16-ohm resistor is connected in series with a parallel combination of 2 resistors, one of which has an ohmic value of 48 ohms, the other one R , being unknown. What is R if the power taken by the 16-ohm unit is equal to the power in the parallel-connected pair of resistors?

The two parallel resistors must equal 16Ω for their power dissipation to equal the 16Ω resistor.
16Ω = R(48Ω)/(R + 48Ω)
16R + 768 = 48R
32R = 768
R = 24Ω
