Give two examples of how constitutional government in the United States has changed the meaning of the basic principles of the U.S. constitution.

I can help a bit, maybe. As Thomas Jefferson Envisioned Federalism when he wrote the constitution, People would consider themselves proud citizens of their state (proud Virginians) never "Americans" So our allegiance has shifted from our state to the nation. And with the 14th Amendment, the power shifted from a balance between the states and the National Government to one of the states in an inferior position. PLEASE NOTE it was the Republicans that passed the 13th, 14th and 15th Amnedments.
Not too sure about a second example, hope this helps.
ED: Ok maybe the actions of the Supreme Court interpreting the constitution and laws has changed it. I( mean it was supposed to be an organic document , an Apple tree as opposed to a Bonsai.
