The judge dismissed my ticket for going 26 over the speed limit?

Is this at all common? In the state I live in it could have resulted in being charged with reckless driving, would have taken eight points off my license, and could have been hundreds of dollars.

I guess I smiled when I walked up because I had to correct him on how to say my name, and he laughed and said "I like your smile, it's really nice to see" and then proceeded to be incredibly nice and say that the cop obviously wasn't looking to help me out because they could have given me a warning, and then proceeded to say that I have to take defensive driving and that he is dismissing my entire ticket. I could not believe how friendly and sweet he was, especially since he seemed pretty stern with almost everyone else. Is this not that uncommon, or was I very lucky?

You are really lucky. That is not common at all. I wish that happened to me out of all the tickets I have gotten. What state was this in if you dont mind me asking?
