Does my kitten have ear mites?
She is 7 weeks old and I’m not sure if it’s just wax or ear mites.
5 AnswersCats6 months agoSpouse randomly makes a distressed “aaahh” type of anxious vocalization/grunt, especially when upset or anxious. What could this be?
He has PTSD from terrible military trauma and I dont know if it’s related to that, or what is causing it. He has some control over it (in that he won’t just randomly do it in public) but otherwise it seems very compulsive. I especially notice when he showers or is alone in a room and anxious, and he can do it multiple times in a short timespan. If he’s really upset it will be a swearword in the same “aaaahhh” strained manner. Thoughts?
1 AnswerMental Health7 months agoCan constant throat clearing/trying to get throat mucus out be a sign of drug use?
For the last couple of years my friend who lives out of state (so I can’t directly observe) has constantly cleared his throat/made disgusting sounds like he’s trying to clear mucus from his throat. In college he was somewhat of party guy, and I know he has used things like cocaine before at parties, but I never thought it was something frequent (I have never used drugs in my life, and never saw him). We talk on the phone often and I have noticed that he is up very late typically, and has shown quite a bit of instability at times. He seems normal enough otherwise, but the constant compulsive gross throat sounds is very weird since he never did that in the past. Could this be a sign of drug use?
2 AnswersOther - Health1 year agoShould I be concerned since he hasn’t worked in so long? ?
I am considering being in a relationship with someone I love deeply who has been my best friend through thick and thin for two years- but I am concerned about our future due to his lack of focus on work. He has a track record of achievement in the military, playing a sport in college, etc. but hasn’t consistently worked in two years. He was injured on duty and went through a divorce and really hard time 2.5 years ago (we met not long after his separation). He earns an income due to being injured in war, so his bills are covered and he has been in school. He now wants me to relocate to him, but I’m having concerns. Yes he’s in school, but he’s been majorly slacking and is lacking in direction. He could easily work in law enforcement & I keep suggesting he take a break from school - especially because he wants us to have a child and buy a home etc. so this would be a way to save. He goes back and forth though. He’ll say he may work and quit school, then say he doesn’t want more trauma related work- yet won’t commit to anything work wise. My concern is yes, he’s shown he has discipline through his past choices - but what if he’s become lazy and complacent due to a set monthly income? It seems like he got burnt out but thinks that he “could” be disciplined again just because he used to be. Should I give him time, or should this be a huge sign that he may not actually step it up? I don’t want to pressure him because he’s accepted & supported me through all- thoughts?
2 AnswersMarriage & Divorce2 years agoWhich police department division is best in terms of pay/overall structure?
I am hoping to gain some perspectives from people who have an understanding of the different departments- I’m in Texas, but I know that there are various divisions such as state troopers, city cops, sheriff office, etc.
Any genuine input would be greatly appreciated! If you’re here to bash law enforcement or have nothing helpful to say, please save your time.
2 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police2 years agoHow to get someone to lose weight without hurting their feelings?
I started spending time with this guy, and I wish there was a way to inspire him to lose weight. He wants to date me, but the honest truth is I’m not attracted to him at his current weight; he’s unhealthy and his doctor made it clear that he needs to change his lifestyle. He claimed to be motivated, saw me doing an extended diet myself, and now seems to have ZERO motivation - and doesn’t even seem to actually see that he has an issue. I am at a totally healthy weight but want to trim down- yet he is obese and will make comments on things I shouldn’t eat as he does nothing to change himself (“oh you should skip the carbs” as he gobbles away). I care about his health and it genuinely seems like he’s lying to himself and doesn’t see that his weight is a serious health issue. Everyone says lead by example and encouragement, but it seems like he truly doesn’t see himself accurately. Does anyone have advice on how to actually help someone see that they have a weight problem, or is this a lost cause?
4 AnswersDiet & Fitness2 years agoAnyone good with photoshopping additional clothes?
I know this question sounds absurd, but I m genuinely curious is anyone would be able to help me photoshop ON additional clothes to a headshot (as in something that would make my shoulders look covered). I have a headshot I like and would like to use for something, but I am wearing a spaghetti strap shirt which isn t appropriate for what I m wanting to use the photo for.
3 AnswersCameras4 years agoNeeding front brake and rotor pads as well as front calipers...is under $300 a good price including labor?
It was quoted at $700 for a 2007 civic, but the man I spoke with told me he would charge me $300 -- he said something about how he would be able to rebuild the calipers rather than ordering new ones as a way to lower the initial cost. Is this a good deal?

5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs6 years agoStats questions. Out of 3000 students in a School of Public Health, 1500 students defined themselves regular dietary supplement users...?
I'm completely stuck, can anyone help?
1) Out of 3000 students in a School of Public Health, 1500 students defined themselves regular dietary supplement users. If you take a sample of 20 of them, what’s the standard error of the proportion (p) of those who defined themselves as dietary supplement users in the school?
(Give your answer to at least 3 decimal places)
2) Imagine the correlation between high school GPA and college GPA in a population was 0.37. Imagine we randomly select 200 people and obtained the correlation of 0.34. What’s the standard error of Z’ for N=200?
3) On a measure with a mean of 10 and a standard deviaton of 2, Sumathi scored 13. What proportion of people score farther from the mean than Sumathi?
(Give your answer to at least 3 places past the decimal point)
1 AnswerHomework Help6 years agoBest books/sources of information about general knowledge such as history, etc.?
I was not conventionally educated as a child and teen, and although I am in college, I feel as though I am missing a lot of basic knowledge regarding information such as history, government, and basic general knowledge. Clearly I can listen to lectures and read books, but I find that many are detailed and focus on one or two specific aspects- are there any books out there that briefly cover a wide spectrum of basic facts?
Thank you!
Also, I am currently reading A Short History of Nearly Everything- so I'm looking for other options.
2 AnswersBooks & Authors7 years agoIs it unwise to purchase 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid with 150k miles?
I am looking to buy an inexpensive vehicle (I am a college student and do not want to take out a loan for a car) and there are some fairly inexpensive buying options for Hondas with a lot of miles on them. The particular one that I am looking at is a Hybrid with above stated miles and a new battery pack that the seller said generally lasts around 75k miles. He has some maintenance records and says that everything runs fine. What do you all think? Keep in mind that I am on a budget

4 AnswersMathematics8 years ago2004 2.0 VW Jetta loss of power while driving?
My car began to lose power while driving, and ended up dying. The car would begin to slow down, then kick into gear and speed up, and then slow down again. It then completely lost power at a light, started back up very weakly, and then lost power again shortly after. When it completely lost power and stopped running the battery light came on and the power steering and brakes stopped working. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?
2 AnswersVolkswagen8 years agoI need to purchase a different car, and need to take out a loan...what is the best way to go about it?
I am currently in college with one more year to go before graduation, and have a steady job. I don't have a huge monthly income, and am needing to purchase a different vehicle. I have not built up credit but a friend will co-sign on a loan, and currently have no debt due to school scholarships. I am thinking that I can get a practical and reliable car for around 10k. Does this seem sensible? Also, should I try to obtain a bank loan and buy from a private party, or go to a dealer that offers financing? Ideally, I don't want to pay more than $200 a month.
2 AnswersCredit8 years agoThe judge dismissed my ticket for going 26 over the speed limit?
Is this at all common? In the state I live in it could have resulted in being charged with reckless driving, would have taken eight points off my license, and could have been hundreds of dollars.
I guess I smiled when I walked up because I had to correct him on how to say my name, and he laughed and said "I like your smile, it's really nice to see" and then proceeded to be incredibly nice and say that the cop obviously wasn't looking to help me out because they could have given me a warning, and then proceeded to say that I have to take defensive driving and that he is dismissing my entire ticket. I could not believe how friendly and sweet he was, especially since he seemed pretty stern with almost everyone else. Is this not that uncommon, or was I very lucky?
3 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police8 years agoHow to stop strange Internet Explorer window from popping up on Windows 8?
I just bought a new laptop, and Windows 8 is driving me up the wall because every time I move my mouse around, I get sent to some kind of Explorer page. It's incredibly frustrating, and I cannot find the start menu. Has anyone experienced this, and does anyone know how to stop it from occurring? I would like to be able to stay on the page that I am not without constantly being redirected and disoriented.
2 AnswersSoftware8 years agoHow often does your boyfriend compliment you, or how often do you compliment your girlfriend?
The guy I'm seeing is someone that I've known for 5 years & has been there for thick & thin despite our problems. We were with each other for 3 years, then I broke up with him for a year, and now we're basically back together. He does a lot for me and has seen me at my worst, so I truly trust him. That being said, I feel like I get way more compliments from other men on a regular basis. He'll say I'm gorgeous or beautiful every once in a while, but normally just tells me he loves me. Part of me feels frustrated and wants to rub it in his face that other guys give me attention, but I know that is pointless & petty & it makes him angry.
Do you think I need to just chill out, and how often do you compliment/get compliments? Keep in mind, we have been in each others lives for 5 years

1 AnswerSingles & Dating9 years agoWhat is a standard punishment for going 82 in a 50 mile an hour zone plus...?
Not having your license or registration on you? I know that it was idiotic of me, but I had taken out my driving info earlier this week because I needed to give it to my insurance company, and I forgot to put it back in my car. Anyway, I was making a three hour long drive to see my father who has been in the hospital, and was pulled over. The cop looked at my student ID, checked my car in his computer system, and didn't even write me out a warning. He told me to be safe, and let me go. I am so thankful, but I'm curious as to what could have happened if I wasn't so fortunate?
