2004 2.0 VW Jetta loss of power while driving?
My car began to lose power while driving, and ended up dying. The car would begin to slow down, then kick into gear and speed up, and then slow down again. It then completely lost power at a light, started back up very weakly, and then lost power again shortly after. When it completely lost power and stopped running the battery light came on and the power steering and brakes stopped working. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

" When it completely lost power and stopped running the battery light came on and the power steering and brakes stopped working." Yea, that's supposed to happen when the motor quits.
Fuel pump, fuel pump relay, clogged fuel filter, bad alternator, plugged up catalytic converter, jumped timing, melted battery fuse panel, etc.
Start with a fuel pressure check and remove and drain the fuel filter. When the filter is drained, the fuel coming out of it should look like fuel and not all gunky and cloudy. You should also be able to blow air through it with your mouth.
