Needing front brake and rotor pads as well as front calipers...is under $300 a good price including labor?
It was quoted at $700 for a 2007 civic, but the man I spoke with told me he would charge me $300 -- he said something about how he would be able to rebuild the rotor pads rather than ordering new ones as a way to lower the initial cost. Is this a good deal?

Fifty bucks each for high end rotors (new), then another 50 for high end pads, so 150 for parts at a parts store. I see no difference between that set up and my 00 Accord, so one hour to change everything out. That's a hundred or so bucks at shop rate. The mech must be marking up parts by at least 100%.
You get the parts, bring a 100 dollar bill and a 6 pack to my house.
I have my doubts on you needing calipers

You can rebuild brake calipers and you could replace the brake pad lining on the old backing plates ( not really worth it considering the price but it is possible ) but I have no idea of how you can rebuild a brake rotor. Once they wear down to their minimum thickness, rotors can only be replaced.
I would ask for a better explanation on how he can save you more than half the initial estimate.

You can't "rebuild the brake pads" and you don't want to machine the rotors. They warp easier when machined. $300 is pretty cheap to do all that work. I'd go somewhere else. Are you sure he didn't mean rebuild the calipers?

Pads are replaced, calipers CAN be rebuilt instead of replaced, but often are just replaced since there is no warranty on rebuilding calipers.

how can you rebuild rotor pads, your best option is to replace both parts, why dont you purchase the items of ebay ,and get them fitted by the mechanic ,this will save you cash
