Seriously, why would an omnipotent, omniscient, loving god need to be worshiped by anyone?

Does it have insecurity issues?

Insecurity causes all sorts of psychological problems. People even start believing ridiculous things, and just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean that somebody isn't out to get me.

"Why does a father need love and respect from his children?" <<<< Love and respect is not the same thing as worship.

And I think that I will choose not to do what this insecure, overly-self-involved deity wants from me. There is no way anyone can talk about a place like Hell and then tell me that the entity that wants to send me there loves me. I think that entity needs too much adoration and too much attention and should seek some kind of psychological help so it can learn that not everyone likes sucking up.

Edit: I just love it when I get TDs like these! Oh, poor God! He needs to have puny mortals running interference for him....

He doesn't. The psychological need is not in God to be worshiped but in man to worship God. The need to be worshiped is found only in the mythological gods of the Greek pantheon of Mythologies.

See, this is why you should think before you ask a question. God doesn't "need" to be worshiped, period. Nobody but you and your fellow night crawlers ever imagined He does. That wouldn't bother me much by itself. There is no shame in being ignorant. The trouble is you simply refuse to be corrected by those who know better. So for you it's a matter of willful ignorance. And that's contemptible.

    Need to be?

No, He doesn't need to be worshipped.

Worship is an automatic response when you comprehend even a fraction of how much He loves and cares for you.

its basically all about Free morals agents that He created growing or developing an appreciation for what He has done. recognizing that his standards will always benefit us and our interest is always in the fore. No insecurity issues there...

Worship is what we do, its not what God asks of us its merely our way of showing we're in total acceptance of Gods existence, we're not just walking around rejecting any possibility of his existence hence the worshipping..

He didn't created Adam and Eve for worship. He created humanity because his freewill to find love.

If you were trapped underground and despaired of being saved, like the South American miners, but then miraculously you are rescued, how would you feel about your rescuers?

The Old Testament is the Jewish Bible and it has over 600 commandments. It is the Book of the Law. Under Law the punishment for sin is usually isolation (jail or exile, etc.), and this happened when the Jews were taken into captivity in Babylon in 593 and 583 BC because of all their idolatry. This is why the sole aim of the Pentateuch (first five books) was to pagan-bash and to make the Jews monotheistic, so avoiding further punishment. That was in this life but in the next life the punishment for sin will be an eternity of isolation from the Lord, in other words Hell. So, as we are all sinners there is no possibility of going to Heaven under the Law.

Christians use their own Bible which is the New Testament. In it they are taught that, through Jesus Christ, they live under God’s grace, which means forgiveness for sins, and they do not work under Law so they don't need to adhere to the book of Law but to Christ's two Commandments: 1. Love God completely, and 2. Love your fellow man as yourself. As faith in Christ is a personal relationship with Him, behaviour becomes a matter for the conscience.

In Dicken's book "A Tale of Two Cities" the worthless Sydney Carton goes to the guillotine to save the life of an aristocrat, so sacrificing himself for someone who had fallen foul of authority. This tale really mirrors Christ's death on the Cross where He sacrificed Himself for all sinners, you and me alike.

As a result, instead of condemning us to Hell as would be required in the book of the Law, Almighty God now looks at Jesus' sacrifice and pardons those who believe on Him, in other words, Christians.

He does that by sending the Holy Spirit, who is the personification of God's grace and forgiveness.

So Christians live under Grace, which is God's forgiveness and can go to Heaven. Even criminals can be pardoned. This was shown when one of the robbers who was crucified with Him asked for forgiveness when he was dying, and received that forgiveness. The people responsible for Jesus' murder - Caiaphas and his self-interested cronies - who refused to accept God's grace but insisted on working under the Law - could not be forgiven and will have gone to Hell.

But as far as forgiveness is concerned, Christ said, in Matt 12.32 "And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come."

This is the unforgivable sin, and it means that there is no salvation and no place in Heaven for you unless you believe in the Holy Spirit (in other words, in the Holy Trinity)

Here's a picture of the moment of death which will happen to us all..

When our earthly ship sinks the Jesus lifeboat will come alongside to take us to Heaven where life will be perfect. There is only a single lifeboat, but the unbeliever hates Jesus and won’t get into it. He will prefer to stay in the water, but he won’t be alone for long. He’ll soon have company – of sorts. Sharks will soon arrive to take him to Davy Jones’ Locker. I know which of the two destinations I prefer. It's your decision to drown or be saved. God will not make the decision for you – you have to do it, but is it wise to leave it to the last minute? Wouldn't it be better to get into it before you end up in the water?

    He doesn't need anything,

it's we that need, that's why we do it.

    We have insecurity issues.
