Tricia bought a skirt and a pair of pants that normally sell for $71.20. She has a coupon for 20% off. The clothes are subject to 6% sale tax

A. How much will Tricia pay in all once the coupon is applied, but before the sale tax is applied?

B. How much will tricia pay in all including sale tax? Round to the nearest cent if necessary.

    First apply the 20% off coupon to the 71.20. Do this by multiplying 71.20 x 0.80 (80% of the original cost). This gives you 56.96. Next apply the sales tax. Do this by multiplying 56.96 x 1.06 (100% of the original cost + 6 more percent). This gives you your result of 60.38.
