Can you make béchamel without butter and milk?
Soooo... I was going to make a pasta but I have no milk or butter. I happen to have sour cream and oil and chicken bullion cubes. So can I use the flour, chicken bullion cubes(substitute of butter) or oil, and sour cream(instead of milk) to make the bechamel? :o
Ok... so I boiled the pasta, put it down and then boiled the chicken stock in a pot. After i did that, I added the flour and used an egg beater to make sure that the batter stays smooth and not lumpy. Then, I added the sour cream and still used the the egg beater to keep the batter smooth. It wasn't the best cooking that I've done but that's ok I guess.

You can make a sauce for your pasta, but it won't be bechamel sauce which is white sauce comprised of flour, butter and milk or cream. You can dissolve the bullion cube in 1 cup of boiling water. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil, though margarine would be better, then whisk in 2 tablespoons of flour until smooth. Slowly add the one cup of bullion, whisking constantly until the mixture just comes to a boil. If you'd like a creamier sauce, you can mix 1 teaspoon of flour into the sour cream and whisk the sour cream into the bullion mixture. Do that off the heat, then return to a simmer, mixing constantly.

Cook your pasta in water with your chicken cubes.
Drain and drizzle a little of your olive oil through.
Toss some sour cream through while pasta is hot so it melts.
