When can I introduce milk?

My son will be 7 months old in a couple weeks.. His doctor said when he is 9 months to start giving him sips of milk in his sippy. Well in this Gerber thing I was reading it said when they turn 6 months you can give then Gerber yogurt as way to introduce milk into his diet. So would it be okay for me to start giving him Gerber yogurt?

I have an 18 yr. Old and now a 9 month old. I was told long ago, at six months you could do half whole milk, half formula, then at one you can give them whole milk without mixing. I myself do not drink milk, but my Baby Bullet guideline says you can introduce them to dairy with yogurt along with other dairies at 6 mos also.

No earlier than 12 months for drinking actual milk. Their digestive system isn't ready for it yet.

Though other dairy products like yogurt and cheese can be introduced earlier. Around 7-8 months or so is alright. Just small amounts at a time to watch for allergies, and to watch for other negative reactions to the new food. My son was especially sensitive to the yogurt,so he couldn't have a lot at a time. The only reason I didn't get my kids the cheese first was they were still learning to chew properly.

*The gerber yogurt is 'ok'. But I preferred Stonyfield's organic version for babies & toddlers. It's made with whole milk, good source of protein and has tiny pieces of fruit in it so you're also teaching them to gum/chew.. I like it not only for the nutritional benefits, but it tasted a lot better than the Gerber to me.
