Should I stop him going or not?

My 5 year old son has been doing karate for the last 5 months I think he's scared of a woman who helps run it so has started saying he doesn't want to do it, I don't won't him to give it up and he's due to get his yellow belt tomorrow so I asked him do you want to go or not he says he wants to go get his yellow belt but doesn't want to do the one at his school do you think I would be being mean to make him still do it?

karate isn't mandatory in life, so save your money & take him to the park instead.

Hello its a tough decision to make as obviously you don't want to see your son upset but on other hand don't want him to miss out on what would be a great experience for him to get his yellow belt. If it was me I would make him go because then he will learn to face his fears and realise that even when things can be scary he can still do it and feel great after doing it instead of wanting to not go ahead with great opportunities because of fears. Good luck on whatever you decide x

If he doesn't wanna go, he doesn't wanna go. You should ask him if he would like to start doing karate at another place, as a test, it might be because of a bad karate-teacher.

But if he doesn't like doing it anymore, he shouldn't be forced.
