Jesus said: If a man marries a divorced woman the man is committing adultery. Do Christians believe Jesus?
It says, "*Whoever divorces* his wife, except for immorality, *and marries* another woman commits adultery." It seems that he only became guilty of adultery when he MARRIED his second "wife". This man became an adulterer on his wedding night.
Is this what He means when He says they boast in their shame.

i said do Christians believe Jesus said: that a man who marries a divorced woman commits aduultery.
It is in Matthew and Luke.
You sound very angry and abuse against women, as you know is unacceptable so from all Benedettas i say please refrain from the hatred in your heart as this is murder. As for me I sammit everything to Him, who is worthy
You are angry with Jesus because this is what He said. If you continue to commit adultery you that is your choice but don't deny Him.

Jesus didn't change the Law.
Mar 10:3-9 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you? And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

In that passage, Jesus is emphasizing the difference between God's perspective of marriage and Moses' response to selfish and demanding human beings. Later on, He tells His disciples in private that if a man marries a divorced woman, he commits adultery.
There are some theologians who say that the verbs used by Jesus suggest that the "adultery" is committed the first time that the man sleeps with a woman who is divorced. It's a one-time sin that can be forgiven, and after that, the two are man and wife as far as God is concerned.
That's one of the toughest questions that arises when the subject of marriage and divorce is brought up. But one thing is clear: God intends for marriage to be permanent.
It's human beings who have changed the rules, not Jesus.

He did say except for immorality or in some versions it says fornication. So there are instances when Jesus said a man can divorce his wife, marry another and not be guilty of adultery. Then again he also will forgive us from all sin. If we make a mistake in who we marry and ask him for forgiveness from what I've read he will forgive us for that and all sin. He is faithful and just to forgive us for our sins and cleans us from all unrighteousness.

Bernie wrote, "Do Christians believe in jesus" can someone tell him that jesus CHRIST is who CHRISTians follow. It's all in the name. Buddhists believe in Buddha, and so on. He also wrote some junk about divorce. I never heard it before.I think he is confused. Tell him Jesus's earthly father, Joseph, was married before he married Mary, Jesus's mother. His first wife died, so he married a much younger woman. Mary was his SECOND wife. Didn't men have as many wives as they could afford in those days ? They didn't have to divorce a wife to have another one. Woman got put to pasture if their husbands wanted younger hotties. I bet the old ones ended up doing all the house work, while the young ones slept late. Being guilty of adultery was a punishable offense in those days. A woman cheating on her husband got stoned to death. Divorce would have been welcomed by those women. So please help Bernie, he is way off.

At the time there was a debate about what "some uncleanness" in Deuteronomy 24:1-4 meant. Jesus position is that you can divorce for immorality but not for anything that you do not like.

He says that because:
1. Marriage is a sacred thing-it's a warning to not take it lightly.
2. One must make one's marriage work. Put unconditional love first before everything: see 1 Corinthians 13
We are responsible for our actions and we are not to forget to love one another despite everything.
So be gentle as doves and smart as snakes. Logic and wisdom is of great value to God/Jesus.

"whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery."
Matthew 5:32
What a moron Jesus was.

It means that Jesus was uptight about divorce. Jewish law (which Jesus claims never to have changed) was perfectly ok with divorce, and still is. Judaism views divorce as the correction of an error made by two fallible, entirely human beings. Apparently Jesus decided he didn't like that one, and changed it.
Oops.
