"Lightsaber"
1. No. Luke did not think the emperor weak. Luke threw his lightsaber in a show of defiance to the emperor's will. The emperor wanted him to kill his father and turn to the dark side so he could have a more powerful apprentice.
2. It's possible Luke could have defeated the emperor had he a lightsaber, but highly unlikely. Not only was Sidious more powerful than Luke in the force at that time, but Sidious has proved himself to be a very deadly lighstaber duelist, matching Yoda, and only losing to Mace Windu because he threw the duel to better appear like a victim to Anakin.
3. According to Star Wars canon, the only reason Darth Vader couldn't use force lightning like practically every other sith, was because of his suit. Apparently using force lighting would indirectly disable the life-support systems in his suit, therefore killing him. Considering this, it's highly plausible that the emperor's force lightning is what killed Vader, or Anakin at that point. Taking the mask off was arguably what actually killed him, however, he was already dying at that point.
Hope I was able to help.

1. he threw down his light saber since he was refusing to turn to the dark side. he would have rather died.
2. I do not think could have defeated the emperor. Luke had some good skills, but the emperor had more power and determination to do whatever it took.
3. darth vader was critically weakened/wounded from his battle with the emperor to save luke. perhaps he could have recovered, but he basically gave up. taking the mask off surely did not help him, but I do not think that that is what killed him. I believe that we are supposed to think that vader knew he was dying, and taking his mask off to see his son with his real eyes, was just his last good act.
Well, that is what I think, there could be different opinions. Anyway, it is a great movie.

1) He wasn't going to kill his father & give the Emperor what he wanted,
2) No; the Emperor's powers were beyond Luke's,
3) Darth Vader was mostly metal & was electrocuted by the lightening.

1) he threw down his lightsabre as a gesture to say he would never turn to the dark side and the emperor would just have to kill him.
2) probably because the emperor was more powerful in the force
3) picking up the emperor had fatally injured and he was going to die anyway even if the mask had not been taken off.
