a pink or lavender tie would work well - white on white could work - like a white tie and tails, but maybe a bit too formal for his/your taste? He could always make the shirt a pink or lavender with a white tie.

I would go with a nice simple lavender/ purple color tie, it will really make your dress pop and match the center and bottom of your dress.
