Chicken Tenders
Children and grown-ups alike are enamored with the crisp simplicity of the chicken tenders. You’d see them most often popularly sold in many fast food chains. These crispy golden and juicy chicken tenders are not that difficult to make and can be prepared and cooked under thirty minutes. Prepare this dish for a quick and exciting lunch or you can make a large batch one lazy weekend to surprise your family, relatives and friends. Served with ice cold beer or a bottle of wine, you have an instant party!
The chicken tenders can be dipped in almost all kinds of sauces and condiments including ketchup, honey mustard, hot sauce, marinara, salsa, barbecue sauce, sweet and sour sauce, curry mayonnaise, plum sauce, butter and garlic, blue cheese dressing, melted cheese, or sour cream. The list goes on. What’s great with these cheese tenders is that they can likewise be served with French fries, topped on pasta or salad, or can be used to make a sandwich, wrap or bun.
Chicken tenders are also called chicken fillets, chicken fingers, or chicken strips. Chicken fingers are cut from the rib meat of the chicken. Tenders is short for tenderloin, which is actually a muscle attached to the underside of the chicken breast. Chicken tenders consist of juicy white meat and thus less susceptible to drying than breast meat.
Coat the chicken pieces with the batter. Then let the chicken pieces sit on a wire rack for twenty to thirty minutes after coating so that they dry. To make chicken tenders get really crispy, fry them in oil with a temperature of 350 degrees F. Using a thermometer you can determine the temperature of the oil or check by dropping a cube or white bread; if it browns in sixty seconds, then you know it’s ready for frying.
Use a deep, heavy and wide skillet and fill it with canola or sunflower oil. Leave a headspace and safety margin of at least two inches. When you are now frying the tenders do not overcrowd the pan. Leave lots of space around each piece so that they cook evenly.
