If I were to build a wide hutch on top of a heavy peice of furniture...?

And screw it in on the top of said piece of furniture to get it to stay, would I be able to unscrew it without harming the integrity of the wood if I ever need to move and lifting the piece isn't the easiest thing in the world?

Or are there better ways to make it sturdy yet detachable that I'm too much of a novice to realize?

Update:

Thank you muuuuch!

Hutches should be secured by two steel bars screwed to the back of the furniture.

Move the base close to where it will be used. Set the hutch on top of the base and get it centered to your liking.

Take two steel bars such as 36" long 1/2" x1/2" angle iron and attach them vertically on the backside. Then you can slide the attached units into position and not do damage to any visible parts.
