  • Teaching A Toddler Christianity When You're Not Convinced?

So, to start off, my daughter isn't really MY daughter, she's my man's and his ex-wife's. The mother is not really in the picture.

I have permission from her father to start teaching her about God because she was showing a very strong curiosity about religion and even though I consider myself an atheist most of the time, I have always and will always appreciate the morality that I was taught at a young age through scripture, etc.

Her father isn't big into religion, but he says it would be better to start her off with a basis of Christian values and beliefs, rather than have her get older and want to be a Muslim. (His words, not mine, now don't shoot the messenger).

I started off by telling her that not everyone believes in it and it's up to her what she wants to think. She says she believes/wants to believe, so I'm not going to argue about it with her- she's only 4. Today we watched a video about The Creation, we went over the 10 Commandments, and we said prayers for those that we love. I couldn't help but feel moved as I prayed, even though I'm not much of a believer. She, herself, had tears in her eyes at one point which really surprised me.

I guess I'm just wondering what I should do, really. I want to help her explore the world and gain a sense of ethics and a personal belief system, but at the same time it feels like an emotional battle within myself to say things in a very non-biased way. It felt good to pray, to be honest, and hope that He was listening, and that itself just created more confusion for me.

I guess what I'm asking is should I remain detached or become a student to the religion along with her...? Or am I really even doing the right thing...? Iii don't know.

  • Are Native Americans ever brought up...?

As something to focus on in our government anymore?

If they are, how often is someone without Native blood in full support of their needs?

Why are they so under represented and where may I find current statistics on them?

It struck my mind today that every reservation I have seen is poverty stricken.

I want to know why they are not flourishing along with the rest of us.

  • Is it a sin to masturbate or a sin to orgasm?

To reach the climax of your pleasure is considered the bad part, correct?

Like how in some countries (not naming names) they cut a woman's clit so that she feels no pleasure.

Ever. Even with her eventual husband.

Is it that type of thinking?

  • Why are Christians so worried about going to Hell?

I thought Christianity was about their sins being forgiven...

Like, that's why Jesus died and all that.

So why do they think it's so easy to get to Hell?

I thought having a religion was meant to inspire hope.

    Not a fear of repercussions.

What a crappy thing to be worrying about all of the time.

  • Is 'doing the GTL thaaaang' more important than raising your child?

    Meaning gym, tanning, & laundry.

My step daughter's mother lives a life focused around this.

While I stay home every day & take care of her daughter.

Never have time for the gym, let alone tanning, and everyone else's laundry is more important than my own, so I tend to not look my best.

Is it bad of me to think that only young selfish people live this way?

I'm even younger than her. Should I promote it within my own life, for myself?

  • Why did my typical grocery products suddenly cost 20 to 30 cents more?

In a week and a half period of time?

Is this behind a certain bill being passed..?

    Inflation because of what...?

The Dow is doing great, the Dow is doing great!

Obviously that doesn't represent the rest of the country.

    Seriously.

I've never seen it hike up so quickly, so much.

  • What the heck is this site goin' on about?

    http://theocracywatch.org/

It may not just be because I'm exhausted that I'm not fully catching on.

Is anyone familiar with this site that can put it in layman's terms.

Instead of a billion essays loaded with information?

All I'm getting is that certain religious groups have 'infiltrated' their mindset into the republican party. It this some kind of conspiracy theory against the basics of a republican's sense of morality?

  • How do I chill out my stress level?

My boyfriend's one week trip is being extended for 3 more days.

I was ridiculously excited to have him coming home to us tomorrow&am now let down.

I am at home taking care of his two children from previous marriages.

We are a family, but earlier I had such... a.... like an anger-attack.

A temper tantrum on the inside without being all childish on the outside.

It is selfish of me, of course, but at the moment I want nothing to do with taking care of his kids. Not because of anything wrong with them but because I have no desire to be cook, chauffeur, babysitter, and person that lazy moms know will be taking care of their child 24/7 in place of them.

I want to hide in a hole and ignore the world for a week or two.

Obviously, these are emotions of mine that are a bit young & a bit stupid.

What are good ways in which to get them away or released so as to no longer feel like ripping everyone's heads off...?

  • How many people interested in politics really think about gays that often?

State by state is allowing gay marriage.

I thought that was the biggest issue...?

When I think of Obamacare I think of how it only covers pap smears every 4 years, instead of every year... When pap smears are one of the first things that show signs of ovarian issues.

Such as ovarian cancer, which can kill women and cause them to suffer.

Apparently others think of gays getting treated for AIDS.

And a lack of Obamacare means a lack of treatment for them.

It seems that someone around here only cares about gays with AIDS and no one else.

    Do you?

  • Why do gays think conservatives think they should die from HIV/AIDS?

When gays are the ones that contracted it, themselves?

Shouldn't they, then, take care of themselves?

It's like asking the government to treat your herpes.

  • Does anyone else find this thoroughly entertaining?

This is a question for the bored.

I have a thing about reading the actual lyrics of a song before deciding whether I like it or not. This particular song I never bothered to look up since I was never into it.

    This lady makes me laugh.

I didn't even know half of those lyrics were in that 'song'.

Are we going to stop having different channels for them eventually and just mix it all up?

  • If I were to build a wide hutch on top of a heavy peice of furniture...?

And screw it in on the top of said piece of furniture to get it to stay, would I be able to unscrew it without harming the integrity of the wood if I ever need to move and lifting the piece isn't the easiest thing in the world?

Or are there better ways to make it sturdy yet detachable that I'm too much of a novice to realize?

  • If a nuclear war involving the USA occurs, would you be willing to become a soldier?

Or is it kind of pointless, at that point?

  • What is a good list of things that seem like they're on their way to a 1984 type society?

    Meaning Totalitarianism.

Being made to eat a certain way in school.

    Drones.

    Etc.

    All are welcome.

If you don't agree that that will ever occur then I can understand that.

    I don't know if it'll happen.

    Just wondering.

  • So... why is the deficit so low?

I'm legit. trying to make sure the I understand this.

I'm not asking fault, blame, who to say thank you to, etc.

Dictionary.com says that deficit is: the amount by which a sum of money falls short of the required amount.

So do we have that sum of money because it has been printed?

Do we have it because more is coming in, in literal revenue?

Please no hate, I'm actually trying to learn.

  • Don't you guys just want a budget?

    Seriously. All of us...

    We just want a budget.

Isn't it in the constitution that we are supposed to have one?!

Don't bother playing the blame game.

No matter who you blame it doesn't change the fact that there isn't one in place.

How about we all rally and scream at the government to agree on one?

... Probably not because we can't stop blaming each side.

Why bother with the blame game? They're all in the wrong.
