Are Native Americans ever brought up...?

As something to focus on in our government anymore?

If they are, how often is someone without Native blood in full support of their needs?

Why are they so under represented and where may I find current statistics on them?

It struck my mind today that every reservation I have seen is poverty stricken.

I want to know why they are not flourishing along with the rest of us.

Update:

Alright...

Well, then.

I can see the general attitude towards them isn't that great.

Cool.

They are underrepresented because they make up a small percentage of the population.

I'd sure as hell vote for a Native American if they had great ideas, I just haven't seen any lately. But hey, we are all Americans right? We should stop focusing on race and get back to the "melting pot" philosophy.

Oh, they flourish along the casinos instead of reservations. People tend to represent the majority, because thats where the votes are. Native americans are probably the lowest percentage of US population.

You know what was the last "native American controversy" I can think of?

That batch who got upset that the Lobbyists they bought didn't help them during the Abramoff scandals.

The sorry state of so-called Native Americans are, even more than the sorry state of African-American communities, a telling example of what liberalism has done to the fabric of life of an entire ethnic group.
