Question about NRL players and drugs in sport?

With all the hoo ha about the peptide use in the NRL, what are your thoughts regarding players being "needled up" to get on the paddock ? if they are not using "drugs" in those needles then what is it ? apple juice ? and if the needle does not "enhance" the players "performance , then what does it do ? your thoughts ??

Update:

Sorry i was being a little cynical about the needling, I have been given painkilling injections to get back on the paddock, and yeah they really helped , seeing I could bearly step before the injection and could freely sprint 15 mins later i am certian it "enhanced" my performance, hehe but no the painkillers definatly did not help ol Chang did they Bill. All about giving players an edge over their opposition, weather it be peptides or pethadine hehe but in the NRL it seems "Drugs ain't Drugs Sol"

The pain killing needles have been around for more than 50 years, Graeme Langland's use of it in the 1975 grand final is the most infamous. The supplements, additives come from the perfromance directors and "sports scientists". What seems so poor about Givney's sacking is he was the one who led the way to get rid of Dank from Cronulla.

It pills there taking made by the club doctors. I reckon the sharks will lose there team if all 14 player a convicted and banned from the game for 2 years. They will lose sponsors $$$ will only have Toyota cup nsw cup and other juniors to use and with the coach being suspend won't help either and other club staff being let go to like trainers doctor etc. sharks have no more $$ to buy other big name players so that going to be a issue but saying that to they still have decent players to use. I wouldn't be surprise if they ending up going broke with no sponsor money coming in the only think they have is what the nrl gave them the support package thing. I hope they get through and become a force in the nrl. And with the other clubs still being investigated anything could happen to other clubs

All these peptides, animal serums and IGF-1 tablets they are supposedly taking are just a waste of time. Peptides, proteins and natural hormones are not orally active and are hydrolysed to amino acids in the stomach. Animal hormones often act as antagonists to endogenous hormones anyway, making them performance reducing.

These may have benefits if administered intravenously, however from what I've gathered they were all taking orally.

They've always used needles to get back on the field.

It's administered by the team doctor for pain relief.

That doesn't make it enhancing it just gets you close to normal strength.
