How many Christians feel this way?
Several years ago a friend and I were at a diner having dinner and when a man at the next table started talking to us about Jesus. I informed him that I was an atheist and my friend stated that he was a pagan, we were polite and never rude to him. He kept preaching at us getting more and more agitated as we pointed out our problems with organized religion in general and Christianity in particular. Eventually he stated his sorrow that heretics like us could no longer be burned at the stake. How many other Christians feel the same way and want to go back to making bonfires out of those who disagree with them?

Ugh. That's the worst. I believe in God and I go to church but I never EVER try force my beliefs on other people, and I NEVER judge people if they believe differently than me. It really makes me upset to read your story. People have forgotten that being a Christian means being loving, accepting, and forgiving, not that you're better than everyone and you need to try and convert every non-believer. I apologize for that man.

"He draws up the drops of water, which distill as rain to the streams ;
the clouds pour down their moisture and abundant showers fall on mankind.
Who can understand how he spreads out the clouds, how he thunders from his pavilion?
There are certain lines, the golden geometry. It's so vague that if you blink you will miss it.
Aside from religious nor philosophic perspective, if you look at it from an engineer's perspective,
there is definitely out there, and mathematics don't lie.
Rather than disapprove someone, if you go research it yourself, you will learn a lot more, about
life and how this geometry can help you improve your life. Then and only then, you will be
able to identify the true nature called God, and which is real specifically.

Hey. Before I met the real Jesus there was this 'religious stalker' who followed me home and made my life a living hell for a while. The union and company warned him... suspended him for it.... and then I had to get the cops involved.
These people - he was a Catholic - can be psycho.
Now.... I'm in a relationship with the living and breathing Jesus.... years afterwards I met him myself.... but not because of some fanatic in my face about him.
Just say you're not interested and leave it.
He doesn't listen to the one he calls his master - to love others, be an example, etc.... why would he care about anything you have to say?
Only AFTER I have shown you mercy and grace have I even earned the RIGHT to speak to you about eternal truths.
Peace.

I would ask him how burning somebody who thought differently than what he did is something that Jesus would have done. Then, I would point out the story of when Jesus thwarted the stoning of a woman who did something different than the rest of the crowd. I would have also pointed out that Jesus never tried to shove his beliefs down people's throats and accepted people for whom they are.

I am a Christian and am definitely not one of them and anyone who says they are has issues they need worked out. The definition of christian is christ-like. Christ came down and loved everyone. He didn't come and spend time with the snobby religious people, he spent time and love with the people who needed him most. I am really sorry you had go through that you didn't deserve that.

Of course not. Those "Christians" who burned heretics at the stake all those years ago were not true Christians.

YAHUSHUA kept Torah, and His followers will also. When two of His disciples offered to pray down fire on the Samaritans, He said 'You don't know what spirit you are following'- Meaning that that was the sort of thing Satan would do, and not what the Savior would do.

I am Catholic and what he did was wrong. I would respect your way of life, and treat you as I would want to be treated. I would see WHY you were an atheist (if you let me), to see why you practice your way of life in hopes of converting you. If I see you are persistent in being an atheist, I would leave it at that. Jesus said to inform others about Him and His mercy and said if they don't listen then it isn't your fault but theirs. It is a Catholic's duty to do whatever he/she can to save his/her neighbor, but if the neighbor does not want to be saved, there is no use. It is truly sad. It is truly and utterly depressing.

Christians only do that because they hear what happens to those who hate God. He is doing you and your friend a great kindness in his mind.

1. That guy should know his boundaries.
2. That guy should have got the message that you weren't interested (we can't force you nor want to).
3. He needs to remember "Thou shall not kill."
As Christians, we apologise for that man who was being presumptuous.
