2007 Corolla S. New Audio Head unit.?

I'm interested in installing a new head unit in my 2007 Corolla S but have never done it before. I'm looking for a guide or some resources. I also need to know if it is compatible with the 2007 Corolla, what tools I will need, if I need to buy an amplifier or extra equipment/materials, etc.

This is the unit: http://www.amazon.com/PIONEER-AVH-X1500-DVD-AVHX15...

Either of the Pioneer double-DIN units will fit the opening in your vehicle.

You'll need a vehicle-specific wiring harness, dash kit, and antenna adapter.

There's "generic" installation videos on Crutchfield, SonicElectronix, and similar sites. Sometimes you can find ones specific to your vehicle on YouTube, but it's usually better to search a Toyota forum for such installs.

    AFTERMARKET HEAD UNIT INSTALL CHECKLIST

The use of an appropriate wiring harness, antenna adapter, mounting cage or dash kit, and pre-splicing (solder and heat shrink tubing) of wiring harnesses is HIGHLY recommended. **If an aftermarket wiring harness isn't used, replace step 7 with the procedure on page 2.

    1) _____ Remove CD(s).

    2) _____ Disconnect negative battery terminal.

    3) _____ Remove trim-panel(s) (if required).

    4) _____ Uninstall stock OEM receiver.

    5) _____ Disconnect power/speaker/antenna plugs.

    6) _____ Install aftermarket head unit in mounting cage (or dash kit).

    **7) _____ Plug in power/speaker/antenna plugs.

    8) _____ Connect and secure grounds.

    9) _____ Temporarily reconnect negative battery terminal.

    10) _____ Test new unit. Test everything. AM/FM, CD, AUX, etc. Make sure all functions operate properly. Front/rear fade and left/right balance. Bass, treble, loudness, etc. Make sure all speakers, external amp(s), and subwoofer(s) are operating and in-phase.

    11) _____ Disconnect negative battery terminal again.

    12) _____ Mount and properly secure (per specific instructions) mounting cage or dash kit.

    13) _____ Reinstall trim.

    14) _____ Reconnect negative battery terminal. Test everything again. Also test vehicle vehicle electrical functions. Lights, wipers, etc.

    PAGE 2

Assumes the use of "Positap" (or similar "vampire" taps).

    1) _____ DON'T cut the vehicle plug. DON"t cut any wires.

    2) _____ Look up database by vehicle make-year-model and tentatively identify color codes.

    3) _____ Using a multimeter and tone generator wire "tracer", VERIFY the connection and FUNCTION of each vehicle wire. In some cases when the database you use is completely accurate, it's a relatively simple task. In other cases you may find significant errors in the "published" color code.

    4) _____ After each vehicle lead is properly identified, mark it either with colored tape (for example, RED tape for "switched 12V+", YELLOW tape for "constant 12V+, BLACK tape for "ground", etc, etc) or in some other positive manner (write the function on a slip of paper and tape that to the wire).

    5) _____ Install a "Positap" (or other type of "vampire" tap) onto each wire and then to it's matching wire on the aftermarket head unit wiring harness.

    6) _____ Return to Step 8 on Page 1.

In 2007, we offered a clean Hyundai Santa Fe. We have been very skeptical on the initiating, yet because we've had our vehicle, we've approximately 22k on it and not one situation has arose, it is been large! in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, now that the Elantra is off the record (and likely, i may be a gamble reluctant to purchase an Elantra to boot) its between the Corolla and the Civic. i for my area have not had an come upon with a Corolla yet i understand that they are stable vehicles. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, I used to have a 1995 Honda Civic LX and there have been actual NO problems with it in any respect - to boot a caught door lock at ninety 8,000 - we had no issues. It made it to a hundred thirty,000 miles and we offered it in 2005 by using desiring an better vehicle, and offered a 2005 Toyota Camry LE (which additionally has been very stable, at 50,000 miles now, no issues to boot on occasion having gentle breaks, that have been fastened actual with a loose adjustment by using the broker). talking of Hondas, my Aunt had a 1998 Honda CR-V, which they had for a hundred and eighty,000 miles (they towed it with a boat, and that i will admit, it may slightly do it, yet nevertheless, with that, it lasted) and traded it in for a Honda Pilot because of the starting to be length of their kinfolk. i understand interior the 2002 3 hundred and sixty 5 days or around that of Civics, there became this one transmission they used of which became truly unreliable and in return, many complaints have been pointed in direction of Honda. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, i think of they fastened this with the hot Honda Civics, such because of the fact the 2007. To be completely user-friendly, its a toss up. %. the single which you think of looks greater effective/rides greater effective/fees greater effective, whichever. the two are very stable vehicles.
