Can I still charge him? Ex strangled me?

Question

Several days ago me and my now ex boyfriend got into a physical fight which ended up in him making the first move and strangling me and leaving bruises on my neck. I slapped him away and filed a charge with the police. He was charged with assault and strangulation.  However when he was questioned he told the police that I made the first move and tried to strangle him (there were no marks on his neck) and the officer told me that it'd be better just to drop it since he'd have to charge me with the same thing and it'd have to go to court and take allot of time and money. I agreed with the cop and the case was dismissed. This was yesterday.

However I was made aware today by the guy he was living with that he was under the influence of weed when he attacked me and made the statement to the police. He said that when he smokes, he goes crazy and doesn't remember anything for several hours. He is also in possession of weed at this moment and had become a pothead. Is there anyway that I can continue up with the charge? And will the statement he made to the police be taken since he was under the influence when he made the statement?

you dropped the charges, anything you do now will only look malicious on your end. and btw, pot does not make you go crazy and strangle people. THC is a downer. your metabolism is depressed, some people may feel euphoric for the first bit, but it does not make you strangle people lol. 

if you want to be a child and continue this further, you could always call the cops on possession, just make sure he has more then 28 grams and if he doesn't, make sure its in separate bags

Not sure what state you live in but the first thing that I would do is get a copy of the police report. Take this to the state atty's office ( make an appointment) and see what your options are. If you did not take pictures make sure you get them as fast as possible. The police were partially correct. When I would take reports of domestic nature and both made statements that they were attacked it was necessary to arrest both. Now, did the police say that they were going to file a packet with the state attorneys office or is the case dead? You will probably;y not ne able to get copies of the statements made to the police but the state attorneys office will. If they deem the case worthy of an arrest they will issue a warrant.
