Minimal enlistment for the Air Force?

Nurses ,as commissioned officers have no minimum. you serve at the pleasure of Congress.

depending on how much of your BSN they pay for, you can expect to do at least 5 years before you will able to think about resigning your commission.. which can( and will) be denied if the need is great.

all ENLISTED folks have an 8 year commitment, at least 4 of which must be active duty( or if going reserves, that usually tends to be 6 years drilling) followed by the remainder in IRR, a period where you are not in uniform, do not get paid and do not earn/keep any benefits, but can be recalled back to service if needed.

ten years ago, that happened a lot. today, not so much.

all enlistments and officer initial service commitments are for 8 years

2. officer service commitments for nurses are either 3 years active and 5 years inactive reserve if you pay for your own college, or 4 years active and 4 years inactive reserve if your in an ROTC program

3. you must have a 4 year BS degree in nursing first

the military doesn't train nurses

If you go Active duty, it is 4 years Active and 4 years IRR (inactive ready reserve, meaning you dont go everyday, just once in a while to check in you are only deployed when deperately needed).

If you are a Guard/reserve, you do 6 years Guard/Reserves, 2 years IRR. This may have changed but this is what I enlisted under.

Every contract is 8 years.
