CricSec- Do you think that behavior of particular fans effects you as a user?
I mean to say that could an abusive fan alter your respect for his country as well.
I have seen many people saying that people from certain sections/regions/countries have changed them with their bad/good behavior.
I know I used to support one country, despite their users mostly posting hatefully against India. I have stopped participating altogether or asking questions/answering their posts, lest it end up causing more disrespect.
Some users just come out to post disrespectfully when a particular team does badly or their own team does well, to insult others.
Is this the only way to celebrate your own team's success or your opposition team's failure.
I am really glad to see the congratulatory posts, happening off late, instead of those insulting ones, which made few infamous user's identity well known to us all for obvious reasons. Won't name any, as we know them well enough.
Pl share your views, kindly without abusing though you are allowed to vent your ire but honestly we are trying to discuss how it effects you, when people say bad things about others, particularly in cricket section, as being a normal user here, I can only talk about this section..

Some time back there were lots of things going around between some SL & Ind fans, . . .but now things are settled, i have respect towards Indians, and i know their attitudes toward us also changed. I too had lot of arguments with many indian users, if my memory is correct, few with you also. . .
Eventually i understood "what the heck are we doing" why are we fighting because of a game called cricket, to achieve what? "
hope others will also understand the same. . . .
you have to admit that this place is no longer that dirty place which it used to be before. . .
Do you remember this TJ

Dear Friend Dinith.
I'm from India. What if I create 5 accounts pretending to be an Australian (Or a resident of any other country other than India and SriLanka) and start abusing SriLankans? Is this bit enough to convince you to start hating Australia? Purest logic here in Y!A is that we don't know who is who. One must not let a handful of people to decide ones love or hate for a country and its people. Anyways, you're wiser and sensible than me. You know better.
And dear TJ, please consider the substance of the above para as a reply to your question. Thankyou.

Previously, I used to abuse the Bangladeshis for insulting Indians with baseless comments like "Bangladesh is a better team than India", "Bangladesh kicked India out of WC 2007 and Asia Cup", "India haven't won a series in Lanka in the past 20 years while Bangladesh is going to whitewash them" and all sorts of rubbish. I broke up in a severe fight with Rafael who individually abused me by asking a question here insulting me 2 days ago Then, yesterday, I'm pretty sure it was he who opened another account with my name and posted all sorts of rubbish everywhere. I couldn't come online for around 8 hours yesterday since I was in a flight. But when I came back, it was worse.
I must say however except a few not many indulge in hate comments these days. Barring an occasional troll hits like Ben Dover and his followers, this is more or less peaceful. Only when, India wins, the trolls come out.
I don't know why you don't come here regularly these days. But the Cricket section definitely misses one of its best members.
Regards.

To some extent. But we have to be keen to take one or two as a whole. Anyway if the majority from the certain country has been disrespectful then yes that will effect your respect towards their country.
Blogmamba:- What I meant by majority are the regular ones. Not level one trolls.

No an abusive fan will not alter my feelings towards their country. Thats just immature and we are all grownups around here. If someone is an idiot then they are an idiot and it has nothing to do with their country.

I don’t find it insulting or abusing if any user disagrees with my opinions and thereby use strong words. What annoys me is when the users don’t back up their answers with facts and keep on blabbering. If you accuse someone of something, you must have to have some proofs with you; else its of no value. If someone comes up with stats to prove himself, I feel happy to answer him or at the worse, argue with him. But if he continually say this and that without any evidence; he is no more than a troll to me whether he has that orange frock under his name or whatever. I too have that for a substantial amount of time but I don’t consider myself that much of a contributor to this section except for time given here.
I’ve always been good to good users (that’s obviously subjective) and have congratulated every single win, every single ton in every single innings of all the whitewashed tests (to name a few) by the English and Australian teams and players against India but in turn, if some users use that as my weakness, I am obliged to not care about what people think about me and express my opinions in a strong way.
Plenty of times, when YahWho (for eg., and there are many others including you) asks a question, some answers make me so irritated that I feel like giving back to them in my own way then and there but I hold back myself just not to ruin the question of the asker who I respect. And those users have earned my respect through their posts; not by awarding me BAs or praising me.
When we lost the third match in the England series recently in India, I was so frustrated that I asked a question about our players making us look like fools everywhere. I was not expecting India to go down so horribly against the English in India and I was literally upset with MSD and his boys. If you remember, I was the one who was most vocal about Sachin's retirement (and I am a Sachinist)
then but people still think I (including other Sachin fans) go overboard which is not true. There is where I tell the users to come up with facts rather than provoking the fans so that the section
goes unpleasant.
Yesterday, a user came up with the comparison between Sachin and Kallis. He came up with some stats (obviously one sided when your intentions are foul) and the answerers went overboard saying Sachin is selfish, not a match winner and all those. What I tell them at that time is to look the real facts and respect those users too who have come up with facts supporting Sachin. Like if they say, Sachin succumbs under pressure these days, I agree with them but if they say Sachin has never played well under pressure, I suggest them to go read some history books. But then again, they come up with some negative things and ignore more positives, knowing pretty well that if a player has played for 24 years, there are lows bound to happen. That’s just an example and when that happens, I become the most biased user of this section thereby disrespecting most players (who they support) and whom I, in fact, respect from my heart.
So, to cut short, I have no problems with any user here tbh but if you’re into discussion, arm yourself with facts.

My beliefs never stem from a knee jerk reaction. They stem from reading, seeking counsel from those wiser than me, feeling, Analyzing looking at history, At context and into my mind and heart.

The worst users here by far are Bangladeshis.
