Which one of these sounds better?

I am doing a project about a Chinese-American pilot during WWII and under her name I want to put "Chinese-American Hero/Heroine". Which one seems better? I'm pretty sure hero is considered a gender-neutral term but I feel that "heroine" can help emphasize that women helped a lot in the war, but then some other students will confuse it for the drug, and I already seem really b*itchy when I correct people, and that won't help... So yeah.

The drug is spelled "heroin," so your classmates are idiots if they can't tell the difference.
