i want to buy custom m&m's as a gift for my friends birthday but the only one i can really afford for this is a 7 oz bag would that be a good amount or is that too small

If that's the only amount you can afford, he/she will understand. Besides, you're doing them a favor. Less calories the better! Don't think about it too much. :)

You could get the M&M's and place in a bowl of ice cream :D That way size of the bag doesn't matter, and your gift is still appreciated!
