Budget calculator is this fair 4 people sharing costs? with some slow or reluctant payers.?

There is 4 people living in a house hold.

To whom owes what and to whom.

Each should pay 25% of outgoings.

I wish I worked this out a few years ago...

Is this fair?

If person 1 pays rent and electricity.

Rent $270

Elect $130

Person 2 buys some food.

Food $460

Person 3 buys some food.

Food $ 400

Person 4 buys stuff all.

Food $100

Formula

Total spent one period = $1360

Each person spent / Total spent = ratio of Each person paid so far

Split 4 ways ratio eg 0.25

Ratio spend of Each person - 0.25 = difference

Difference * Total spent for Each person

If result is negative then that person pays the amount which maybe split between the results of others only it there difference is positive. The sum of the differences for all does equal $0

If 2 people have negative results then both pay. Any more than that and they will all be living in the street..

Result:

Person 1 receives $60

Person 2 receives $120

Person 3 receives $60

Person 4 Pays $240

A new calculation could be done every pay period but with a spread sheet you can keep inserting more lines so as to keep track of it long term with a little give and take.

If more details are needed I will add please let me know I will add.

If you own a Android Phone, there is an cool App that does this accounting in a jiffy and in real time - ie,any of the common spends by each of the four needs to be updated by each of you and it auto- consolidates and reports each persons due when scheduled/needed.
