Is firefighting a religion in itself?

Is is putting out fires acknowledging that your house is on fire? And if your house isn't on fire, why worry about fires elsewhere? Remember, to a firefighter their house isn't on fire. Therefore, firefighting is a religion because they believe their house isn't on fire.

And why can't we have fires in schools? The firefighter's kids can just sit still and be quiet while all the good little pyromaniacs commit arson.

    Title: No.

    1. Yes.

    2. Because it's your job if you're a firefighter.

    3. If their house was on fire, they would believe it was on fire and know exactly how to put it out.

    4. Firefighting is not a religion, and ANYONE would like to hope their house isn't on fire, not just firefighters.

lol. I see what you did there, but using firefighting to do it? Really? Come on now. I KNOW you could have made a better analogy if you gave it some time and really thought about it. This analogy just makes firefighters seem stupid, which isn't appreciated by those of us in law enforcement who find it an honor to work beside them.

No. If it was a religion, all True Firefighters would randomly hack through your door and hose down your house on faith that there is a fire even though you can't see it.

Just because you can't see something doesn't mean it isn't there.

Um, no. It's a profession. Is there a firefighter church, where firefighters gather and read from the holy firefighter book? I don't think so.

A window opened and I was able to see into it but what I was able to see was only an interpretation created by my upbringing.

I realized that what I'd seen was what I could comprehend and in a manner that made it easy to understand what was going on.

There is no heaven in the biblical sense. And it's not a graduation either. It's simply rejoining the universal conciousness without the imagined barriers that seperate us from eternity.

The consciousness we draw from and that is ultimately us is on loan. On loan but not rented. We are the eyes and ears of the consciousness.

What we think of as "ourselves" is only an illusion. "We" have been around since the very beginning and will continue to be so forever.

Thank you for showing me the light. I'm currently dousing my neighbor's house with gasoline so he can see as clearly as I do.

I'd say it's more of a calling. Whatever it is, I'm glad there are people willing to do it.
