Kerry is another story. Helen's brother in law was career ARVN from 1955-1975 did some time in prison after the run-over and escaped. He managed to hide for 3 years some how while they waited for the youngest son to get to a point he could handle the walk he had planned thru Cambodia to Thailand.

Its is up to debate whether or not she was the reason some POWs were beaten. But she did provide propaganda material and comfort for the NVA.

She was kind of a sucker for NV propaganda, that is true, but she has been demonized in absurd fashion. The NV didn't need any excuse to beat up on our POWs. This was done routinely, almost matter of factly. Blaming her for any of it is like blaming the person who feeds a dog a biscuit for all the people the dog bites before and after.

And in her own clumsy blind way, she was right. The Vietnam war was a debacle for the United States. If she helped to stop it by one day, all the better.
