I believe in Jesus, but have no faith in astrology. I do find astrology fascinating.

Astrology is anathema to Christianity, as it is rooted in Paganism. (The best astrologers in the ancient world were Babylonians/Chaldeans).

Take no notice of anything an astrologer tells you. If you believe in the occult you'll go badly astray. How can something they write in a publication offer you an individual forecast when it applies to thousands of readers? It will so generalised as to be meaningless.

Astrology is stuck in a time warp. It was relevant 2000-5000 years ago when some planets came very close to earth and greatly upset it, even changing the calendar from a 360 day year of 12 uniform 30 day months to the one we have now, and which occurred in 1200 BC.

But at the time of Jesus Christ's birth the planets all went into their present stable orbits. As a result the planets no longer have any noticeable influence on our lives, and astrology nowadays is simply a means of making money out of gullible people.

That is like serving two masters.

Let's say you are indeed a follower of the Bible. Astrology has roots in other cultures. If you practice astrology, that is a violation of the First Commandment. No other gods, remember? Also the Hebrews in the bible did not practice astrology. It is considered an abomination.

There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that uses divination, an observer of clouds, or a fortune-teller, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or one who calls to the dead. For all that do these things are an abomination to Jehovah. And because of these abominations Jehovah your God drives them out from before you. (Deuteronomy 18:10-12)

"If a man or woman living among you in one of the towns the LORD gives you is found doing evil in the eyes of the LORD your God in violation of his covenant, and contrary to my command has worshiped other gods, bowing down to them or to the sun or the moon or the stars of the sky, and this has been brought to your attention, then you must investigate it thoroughly. If it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, take the man or woman who has done this evil deed to your city gate and stone that person to death." (Deuteronomy 17:2-5)

At least people in this day and age won't stone you.

How can you say that? The date is not recorded when Jesus was born.

Also ... there are two kinds of "astrology"...

One makes stupid predictions about people's lives in newspapers and

magazines (none of which are in agreement with each other) and claim

the same predictions apply to everyone born in each group. (nonsense)

The other branch identifies certain character traits and patterns found

to recur among many born in the period of each "star sign"... which in

no way could apply to Jesus because His nature is of the Spirit of God.

Astrologers cannot lay claim to any such patterns of character when or

if they occur, as they are of God's making. They are part of the "natural

man" inherent in us all - designed by God for whatever unstated reason

He had for making us that way. On conversion, those patterns give way

to spiritual ones, as we grow more toward the Spiritual nature of Jesus

    and the "natural man" diminishes.

The gospels portray Jesus in various ways: Compassionate (healing ministry - one of many "healers" at the time), angry and aggressive (calling Pharisees "Hypocrites" etc, attacking the tradesmen in the temple, and so on), and even initially uncompassionate (the Syro-Phoenician woman, for example, when he initially refused to exorcise her daughter as they were Gentiles - "dogs" - until she begged for the "scraps" – Matthew 15:22-28 & Mark 7:25-30). And in Matthew 10:34-38 and Luke 12:49-53, he states that his mission isn’t to bring peace but set the earth on fire and to set members of households and families against each other.

So if Jesus was a real person, he doesn't seem perfect, but complex like other men. But I kind of think the Jesus of the gospels was probably a legend in who were assimilated proverbs and morals of a sect and tradition, and maybe attributes of several leaders of the sect.

Beliefs in astrology and supernatural beings are related. I personally think they're equally implausible.

Examples of biblical references to astrology seem to be:

Genesis 1:14 says “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: ".

And in Job 38:31 it says "Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion ".

Isaiah 47:13-14 (NIV translation): All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. Here are no coals to warm anyone; here is no fire to sit by.

Matthew 2:1-2 says “there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.”

However, Astrology was the forerunner of the modern science of Astronomy. Superstition often survives, despite increases in knowledge.
