What current NHL franchises did not originate in the NHL?
There are 5 current NHL franchises that did not originate in the NHL. I have 10 points for whoever can name all of them. You MUST name the team as it is known today, and it must be the original franchise that started outside of the NHL. Good Luck! :D
Pat H has it as soon as I'm allowed to give the points. Good job! :D
@ Operation Rancid Ivy. You need to do a little more reading of your hockey history. The NHL was formed specifically because they did NOT want the owner of the Toronto Blueshirts involved anymore. The owners of the Montreal Canadiens, Montreal Wanderers, Quebec Bulldogs, Ottawa Senators and Hamilton Tigers all formed the NHL and left the NHA to get rid of him. The Toronto Arenas had a new owner and were only formed because the league wanted a team in Canada's second-largest city at the time (Montreal was considerably larger than Toronto back then). The Toronto Arenas are NOT the same franchise as the NHA's Blueshirts and to prove this fact, the Toronto Maple Leafs will be celebrating their centennial in the same year as the NHL. The Toronto Maple Leafs franchise began the day the NHL was founded. Sorry, no dice for you.
